Elderly Law

There can be many difficulties as we become older and we understand this is a natural cause for concern. We believe that everyone has the right to a worry-free old age.

There are several branches of elderly law that are important to consider:

Lasting Power of Attorney

There are 2 LPA’s available that can be put in place to protect you and your assets. Lasting Power of Attorneys can decide how you and your belongings are looked after – should anything happen to your health. They break down into, a Health and Welfare LPA and a Property and Financial LPA.

Wills & Trusts

As we get older, it’s important to ensure a Will is in place and that it’s up to date. By having an accurate Will in place, you can be safe in the knowledge that your assets are going to be distributed to who you wish.

Equity Release

There are 3 schemes available under equity release, although not all may be available to everyone. The basics to be able to entertain equity release include:

  • Being over the age of 55 years old
  • That you own your own home
  • That your home will need to have a minimum value and will need to be of a traditional construct.
